Agnes Solitaire is an engaging card game that challenges players to strategically organize cards into foundation piles. At the beginning of the game, tableau piles are set up, with the initial pile containing a single card, followed by the second pile with two cards, and so on until the seventh pile, which holds seven cards. After laying out these tableau piles, an additional card is placed to begin the first foundation pile. Each foundation pile must start with a card designated by its number, and the ultimate goal of the game is to transfer all cards into these foundation piles.
The foundation piles are organized by suit and can be built up from King down to Ace, with the option to wrap around if needed. The tableau piles, on the other hand, can be constructed by placing cards of the same color in descending order, also allowing for wrapping from Ace to King when necessary. An appealing feature of Agnes Solitaire is that if the cards in the tableau are stacked by both color and suit, players have the ability to move entire groups of these cards at once.
When a tableau pile becomes vacant, any card can fill this space, providing more strategic options for the player. Should players find themselves at a standstill with no available moves, they can draw from the stock pile, where one card is dealt to each tableau pile. After a set number of rounds for dealing stock cards, a few cards will remain unplayed, which can then be used to further populate tableau piles or transferred to the foundation piles.
The essence of the game lies in clearing the tableau piles while stacking cards in the correct suits whenever possible. If players reach a point where no moves are left, they have the option to click the "give up" button to conclude the game. It's worth noting that the player's score increases with each card successfully placed into the foundation piles, encouraging players to think strategically and plan their moves wisely to achieve the highest score possible.
