The inspiration for Pong stemmed from an electronic ping-pong game that was part of the Magnavox Odyssey, the very first home video game console. This connection resulted in a legal dispute, as Magnavox later sued Atari for patent infringement, highlighting the competitive nature of the burgeoning video game market during the early '70s.

Gameplay in Pong is straightforward yet engaging. Players control paddles that move vertically to intercept a bouncing ball, aiming to score points by getting the ball past their opponent's paddle. The game can be played by two players or against a computer-controlled opponent, making it a versatile choice for various gaming preferences. The controls are easy to master, with the up arrow key serving to move the paddle upward and the down arrow key moving it downward. For players using a keyboard setup, the 'F' key functions to move the paddle up, while the 'S' key is used to move it down.
