Above and Below Solitaire

Above and Below Solitaire is an engaging card game that utilizes two decks, transforming traditional solitaire into a challenging yet rewarding experience. The gameplay begins with the dealing of a single card face up, referred to as the "indicator." This card serves as the basis for two distinct sets of four foundation piles that players will aim to complete.

Starting with the foundation piles built up, players will add cards of the same suit, beginning one rank above the indicator card. The game is flexible, allowing for a wraparound from Ace to King when necessary. In contrast, the second set of four foundation piles is built down from the cards that are one rank below the indicator, also considering the circular nature of the card ranks from King back to Ace. This dual structure creates an intriguing gameplay dynamic that requires strategic planning and foresight.

Players draw stock cards one by one, placing them in a waste pile. A notable feature of this game is the ability to move any card matching the rank of the indicator directly onto its corresponding pile. Additionally, players can play the top card from the waste pile either to one of the foundation piles or to any of the four tableau piles. The tableau piles allow further movement, built up or down using cards of the same suit, although players can only relocate one card at a time from these piles.

Once all stock cards have been played, players can gather the waste cards back into the stock and take another turn, enhancing the game's tactical depth. Moreover, players are permitted to rearrange cards between foundation piles, improving their chances of victory in this exceptionally challenging game. The more cards you successfully transfer to the foundation piles, the higher your rank ascends, offering a satisfying incentive to master this captivating card game.
